Why pick me as your counsellor?

I specialize in building strong, trusting therapeutic relationships that set the foundation for meaningful change. Research shows that when therapists respond in an attuned and empathetic way, clients feel heard, supported, and often gain the confidence to express their needs in other areas of life. I take pride in being deeply attuned to my clients, fostering a safe and supportive environment that promotes growth and success.

This work is not just a profession for me—it is my passion. As a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist (RMFT), I specialize in couples therapy and relationship counselling, including working with singles. My practice encompasses individuals in marriages, long-term relationships, and those newly navigating a relationship.

I also support individuals seeking to heal from trauma, infidelity, divorce, breakups, narcissism, or abuse. Additionally, I help clients who wish to understand themselves and their relationship goals more deeply, break unhelpful relationship patterns, or explore their attachment styles.

I firmly believe that our happiness and overall quality of life are intricately tied to our primary relationships. Supporting couples and individuals as they address relationship challenges is profoundly fulfilling for me, and I have devoted myself to becoming an expert in this field.

Unlike many therapists, who may only dedicate 5–20% of their caseload to couples therapy, it makes up approximately 80-90% of mine. The remaining 10-20% includes working with clients on areas such as ADHD, anxiety, and depression. I do not offer couples therapy as an adjunct to my services—it is my specialty. I have completed rigorous training, including certifications in levels 1, 2, and 3 of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman training, Narrative Therapy training, and numerous graduate-level courses in marriage and family therapy. Additionally, I’ve completed over 200 hours of supervision with a couples and family therapy supervisor.

EFT, the most effective research-backed modality for couples therapy, is at the heart of my approach. Studies show that 70–75% of couples move from distress to recovery, with approximately 90% experiencing significant improvements. This evidence-based method helps couples build greater connection, understanding, and satisfaction in their relationships.

As a dedicated specialist, I am passionate about helping couples, singles, and families improve communication, enhance their happiness, strengthen their bonds, and learn about relationships. Whether you’re looking to rebuild a relationship, deepen your connection, or work on personal growth within your relationships or for yourself as a single person, I am here to guide you toward a brighter and more fulfilling future.

“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of

the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.”

― Mary Anne Radmacher

YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH A HUGE LIFE EVENT OR TRAUMA

TO BENEFIT FROM COUNSELLING. TALKING WITH A PROFESSIONAL CAN GET YOU THROUGH DIFFICULT SITUATIONS IN LIFE AND YOU'RE STRONGER IF YOU DO THAT

-Dr. David Spiegel, M.D., associate chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford University

Types of therapy and approaches I use:

Family systems approach

"Families are an emotional unit. They are an interconnected system of interdependent individuals. Moreover, they influence one another, and their psychology cannot be understood in isolation from the system as a whole."

 - Newport Academy

Emotionally focused therapy

"EFT is a structured approach to couples therapy formulated in the 1980’s and has developed alongside the science on adult attachment and bonding to expand our understanding about what is happening in couple relationships and to guide therapists."

-International Centre For Excellence In Emotionally Focused Therapy

Narrative therapy

Narrative therapy is a style of therapy that helps people become—and embrace being—an expert in their own lives. In narrative therapy, there is an emphasis on the stories that you develop and carry with you through your life."

-Good Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a short-term form of behavioral treatment. It helps people problem-solve. CBT also reveals the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and the behaviors that follow."

A FEW FACTS ABOUT ME:

I am a mother to a busy 15-year-old boy and a proud dog lover. Originally from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, I have a deep appreciation for life, nature, and the joy found in daily moments. Outside of work, I love to cook, volunteer, and play a variety of sports. You’ll often find me kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding on the water—two of my favorite ways to connect with the outdoors.

As a facilitator and mindfulness practitioner, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals mentally and spiritually. I strive to help couples create and sustain healthy, strong, and satisfying relationships. To ensure I provide the best care, I continually strengthen my practice by staying at the forefront of evidence-based approaches and applying methods proven to make a difference.

I have always had a genuine desire to make a difference and help others, which led me to pursue a meaningful and purposeful career. I walk alongside my clients with compassion and empathy, drawing on both my professional expertise and personal experiences with similar challenges. This allows me to resonate with my clients and build strong, trusting relationships.

There is nothing more rewarding to me than hearing a client express how much lighter, happier, or at peace they feel after our work together. Whether it's processing unresolved pain from the past, breaking through life’s challenges, or creating a brighter future, I am honored to support my clients on their journey to healing and fulfillment.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT A YELLOW FINCH (GOLDFINCH)  SYMBOLIZES?

A goldfinch (yellow finch) arrival is said to "remind you to enjoy life and savor each moment for the joy that is in it. Furthermore, it is also a time to celebrate who you are, your accomplishments, or just for the sheer fun of it. The Goldfinch meaning symbolizes that life is for you to live. Therefore, each moment you waste on such negative emotions as fear, hatred, and anger is a waste of time. This spirit animal is all about finding joy in the present moment. Seeing one represents that it is time to express yourself. Thus you need to speak up and speak your mind. Be straightforward, kind, and thoughtful with your words, and all will be resolved. "  As a mindfulness practitioner and true believer in "finding joy in the present moment" the yellow finch couldn't be a better representation of my business and practice in my own life.

"The goldfinches are symbolic of joy, enthusiasm, positivity, and persistence. In Christianity, these birds have a strong symbolism and are considered to be sacred. The spirit of the goldfinches also symbolizes optimism. These birds believe in always looking at the bright side of things. The third message from Goldfinch Spirit Animal is one of joy. There is a sweet cheerfulness in this little Bird and in the creature’s heartening song. Remaining positive and finding simple, sublime happiness in your life cannot be overstressed. Celebrate every sparkle in your journey and stay true to your vision. The third message from Goldfinch Spirit Animal is one of joy.
